
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) hosted the 45th Board Meeting of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in Colombo recently.
The meeting comprised delegations representing accounting bodies from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, while observer status was given to Afghanistan, Maldives and Bhutan. Officials of the Auditor General’s Office in the Maldives and Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan attended the meeting.
Officials representing the Enterprise Financial Management Association of China also attended the high level regional meeting, at the CA Sri Lanka auditorium.
Founded in 1984, SAFA is a forum of professional accounting bodies in the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region. SAFA which is an apex body of SAARC, works in the public interest, towards ensuring broad economic development in the region by promoting accounting standards and practices. CA Sri Lanka is a founder member of SAFA.
