Highlighting Sri Lanka’s strengths in fields of education such as IT, Accountancy, Engineering, Nursing and Caregiving, the Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Vish Govindasamy outlined the opportunities Sri Lanka presents for Nigerian students keen to pursue foreign higher education.

Govindasamy was speaking at a meeting with the High Commissioner of Nigeria to Sri Lanka Ahmed Sule.

He said that Sri Lanka is a viable alternative to current regional education hubs such as Malaysia, complemented by the availability of easy air travel access through Doha.

In response to HC Sule’s announcement that a Nigerian business delegation would be visiting India and Sri Lanka in mid-2023, Govindasamy enlightened HC Sule on the numerous investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka’s State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) across key sectors such as Energy, Oil and Gas, Health, Transport, and Engineering, while emphasising the national carrier SriLankan Airlines as a potential investment avenue.

He requested that HC Sule consider inviting potential investors to join the proposed business promotion mission to Sri Lanka, to facilitate high-level discussions on investing in Sri Lanka.

HC Sule suggested that The Ceylon Chamber consider organising a business promotion mission to Nigeria thereafter, to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
