MAS Intimates, the largest division of apparel manufacturer MAS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, set up an Intermediate Care Centre consisting of 450 beds which was opened on the 1st of July 2021.
The Center, situated in Polgahawela, was set up with the support of the Army for the benefit and treatment of employees, their families and the public in the North-Western Province, amid the challenges faced due to the rapid spread of the virus across the region.
The Centre, built at a cost of over Rs. 48 million, was opened by the Governor of the North Western Province, Raja Collure. CEO of MAS Intimates, Rajiv Dharmendra and Director of Production and Operations, Ruwan Keragala and Director, Manufacturing, MAS Intimates, Rohan Daulagala were also present. The Centre, set up under the supervision of Provincial Director, North Western Provincial Health Department, Dr. M.K. Sampath Indika Kumara ,has been set up with facilities to accommodate the needs of critical Covid-19 patients. The Centre has a High Dependency Unit and special facilities that can accommodate up to 20 patients with high levels of infection.
The Centre has been structured keeping in mind the safety and convenience of doctors, with the capability to monitor oxygen levels of any patient as well as CCTV observation of patients. The Polgahawela Regional Hospital provides services to the patients at the Care Center, and the North-Western Provincial Health Services and the North-Western Provincial Cooperative Development Department act as key stakeholders.
