Veteran green tea expert Dr. Tiran Peiris has been offered a high profile position as Director/shareholder and CEO of Australian Green Tea (Pvt) Ltd (AGTPL) in New South Wales, Australia.
Recognising Dr. Peiris’ wealth of experience being the ‘founder’ of three green tea plants in Sri Lanka and pioneering Japanese green tea to Sri Lanka, his task is to take the company to the next level of growth.
AGTPL has been the catalyst for building a new tea growing, processing and export industry in Australia. Hence Australia Tea Growers Cooperative Ltd set up a supportive standalone processing packaging and export company under the AGTPL banner.
They are connected with two Japanese based tea companies which have set up operations there. They have planted a tea clone Yabukita, needed to manufacture quality green tea including Sencha and are developing a new tea cultivar ‘Long jing’.
