The ‘Market Access Support Program’ designed to empower entrepreneurs, was launched by Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently.
The program helps entrepreneurs to expand markets, modernise / upgrade products / services and production processes and increase market access to connect and compete by introducing improved value added products and services.
The program operates under two categories. Rupees 200 mn. has been allocated by the Treasury to implement the program this year and the effective period of the program will be three years commencing from July 2018.
Ten entrepreneurs were awarded the ‘matching grants’ by Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama at the awareness seminar of ‘2,000 New Exporters’ development program in Kurunegala recently.. The recipients were selected by Evaluation Panel appointed for the purpose. Beneficiary enterprises represented rubber, footwear, coconut, machinery parts and components, food packaging, ornamental fish and jewellery manufacturing sectors.
