Japan’s Minister of Defence, Itsunori Onodera, called at the Hambantota Port during his state visit to Sri Lanka recently.
The Minister was taken on a tour of the port by CEO of Hambantota International Port Services (HIPS), Capt. Ravindra Jayawickreme. He experienced a vantage view of the port from the 12th floor of the port’s administrative building and was also given an overview of the port’s future plans.
The Japanese delegation included Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka Kenichi Suganuma and several other dignitaries, along with the Commander of Sri Lanka’s Southern Naval Base.
