
The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) has been organising regional MICE training programs for regional hoteliers and MICE professionals keeping in line with the objectives stipulated in the Tourism Act.
One of a series of training programs scheduled for this year in the southern region program was held at Cinnamon Bey, Beruwela to raise awareness of the significance of Sri Lanka’s MICE sector as a source of economic expansion. The program was centered on “New Dimensions of MICE - Driving Sri Lanka with Sustainable Innovation” and was tailor-made to suit the region. General Manager, SLCB Krishantha Fernando, said that ongoing training is its bid to set up a strong collaboration between entrepreneurs and MICE strategic partners from all sectors, which prioritise the concept and practice of sustainability and innovation thus strengthening two major pillars of the industry, efficiency and competitiveness.
A panel discussion on current status of MICE and new trends was conducted with the participation of Krishantha Fernando, Indika De Silva, Sisira Senaratne, Paul Sun and moderated by Imran Hassan.
A presentation on Reshaping of MICE – Technology and HR was carried out by Mrs. Paddy Paul followed by Trevin Gomez on MICE from the hoteliers perspective and Gihan de Silva on Experiential Marketing.
SLCB will continue to conduct these training programs covering the Cultural Triangle and the Northern region for all hoteliers to be fully geared up to serve MICE travellers in the upcoming seasons.
