SLTPB celebrates arrival of 100,000 Russian tourists through direct flights

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), in collaboration with Airport and Aviation Services organised a ceremony to celebrate 100,000 tourist arrivals from the Russian Federation through direct flights.

This was held at the BIA on July 17 by welcoming the passengers and crew who arrived by Aeroflot flight from Moscow.

Over 100,297 Russian tourists were brought in to Sri Lanka jointly by Aeroflot, Azur Air and Redwings since October, 2022. As of July, Russia has become the second highest source market for Sri Lanka.

The visitors and invitees were given a warm welcome by Tourism Information Centre officials of SLTPB and were escorted to the Lotus lounge with a cultural performance by a traditional dance troupe.

Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Levan  Dzhagaryan, Chairman, Airport and Aviation Services, G.A Chandrasiri, Chairman, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Thisum Jayasuriya, former Sri Lanka Ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga were present.

Thilak Weerasinghe of LSR, Rushan Fruard of Exotic Holidays International, Kamal Deshapriya of Ceylon My dream who contributed as industry stakeholders for this direct flights, Capt. Ermolaev Vladmir Vlaimirovich and crew of Aeroflot, Tourism and Aviation officials were also present.
