16 July, 2023

Mahoora by Eco Team, a name in Experiential Wildlife Tourism has introduced a groundbreaking initiative that opens wildlife safaris and mobile-tented camping experiences to differently-abled individuals in Sri Lanka and around the world, for the first time ever.

This product was unveiled in their Wilpattu Camp first and will be extended to all their other locations as well.

CEO, MD Anurudda Bandara unveiled this exciting development, marking yet another milestone in the country’s eco-tourism industry.

With a vision to make the wonders of Sri Lanka’s wildlife accessible to all, Mahoora - Wilpattu has taken remarkable strides to ensure that individuals with disabilities can now partake in this enriching experience. Special modifications have been made to both the tents and the safari vehicles, guaranteeing the utmost safety and comfort for all differently abled guests.

Bandara said, “We are thrilled to pioneer this initiative in the Sri Lankan tourism landscape. It has always been our commitment to provide inclusive experiences, and now we have expanded our offerings to welcome differently-abled individuals. We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent wildlife and nature that our country has to offer.”

Mahoora by Eco Team has worked closely with accessibility experts to design and implement the necessary modifications. The tents now feature improved accessibility with ramped entrances, wider doorways, and specially adapted bathrooms to accommodate wheelchair users. The safari vehicles have been equipped with ramps and restraints to securely transport guests with mobility challenges.

This ground breaking initiative not only aims to provide memorable experiences for differently-abled individuals but also seeks to raise awareness about inclusivity within the tourism industry.
