Sri Lanka’s foreign remittances increased by 78% compared to last year to pass the USD 568 million mark in March, 2023. This figure was US $ 400 million last month, recording an increase of over USD 167 million from February 2023.
Sri Lanka registered an average of over USD 400 million in migrant workers’ remittances in the first quarter of 2023, with total inflows passing the USD 1.4 billion mark in the first quarter.
Workers’ remittances were recorded at USD 437.5 million in January and USD 407 million in February, Central Bank sources said.
