The Sri Lanka Agripreneurs’ Forum (SLAF) has partnered with the Distance Learning Centre (DLC), a limited liability company and a state-owned institution that serves as a training provider and a learning facility provider for private sector and public sector clients.
This partnership will offer professional training on agri entrepreneurship to improve access to knowledge for the entire range of stakeholders in the agri sector.
Training programs in a range of areas such as value-chain development, good agricultural practices, identifying market opportunities and linkages will be offered which are of much value to the agripreneurs.
The expertise and knowledge of industry leaders that can be channelled through SLAF, coupled with the state-of-the-art video conferencing facilities and the multimedia labs of DLC enable this joint effort to be able to deliver value and education to the much-needed agri-sector of Sri Lanka.
This endeavour aims to better equip the Sri Lankan agri sector to transition into smart agriculture while sparking interest among the youth to engage in agriculture as a livelihood and vocation. The joint initiative also seeks to provide certified professional training in areas that are designed to convert the traditional Sri Lankan farmer into a better equipped agri-entrepreneur, thus raising their standard of living while benefitting the sector as a whole.
The programs offered will also cater to agri-academics and agri-professionals, allowing them to perform better in their respective roles.
SLAF and DLC believe that the dissemination of accurate information and sound advice, during times of misinformation is a core element in uplifting the Sri Lankan’s agri-sector. Equipping Sri Lankans with professional qualifications in Agriculture is important to instill professionalism in the sector and generate self-confidence.
