
The Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai and the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) organised a business discussion “Doing business with Sri Lanka” at the SICCI auditorium in Chennai last week to enhance awareness of trade and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
President Ar Rm Arun and Secretary of the Chamber Vinod Solomon outlined the long lasting bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and India and the willingness of some entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Venkateshwaran stressed the importance of doing business in Sri Lanka, potential investment avenues available in the Island nation and the facilities and incentives being provided by the Government to foreign traders and investors.
He invited the SICCI to arrange an investor delegation to Sri Lanka next year. Thirty potential and well established traders and investors from heterogeneous business and investment sectors in South India such as renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceutical, automobile, electronic and IT/BPO were present.
The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), which has completed hundred years of service, is one of the oldest, largest and prestigious institutions in India.
