
Creating a major landmark in the local aviation sector, Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India will operate direct flights from Chennai to Palaly Jaffna from next month.
An Air India official said that the airline will initially operate on a three-week frequency. The airline planned to launch this service but was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The newly launched private airline in Sri Lanka, Fits Air CEO, Peter Hill earlier said that they are looking at launching scheduled domestic flights and Colombo-Jaffna and Ratmalana-Jaffna were among their priorities.
Palaly was the first international route for the airline prior to the pandemic. – SS
