
Iraq remained the No. 1 importer of Ceylon Tea with an increase of 25% in imports YoY from January-September 2022. Russia secured second position with 17.80 M/Kgs, a 12% decrease against total imports recorded from January-September 2021.
UAE is in third place with 16.71 M/Kgs followed by Türkiye, Iran, Libya and Azerbaijan.
A significant decrease in imports is reported from Türkiye (55%), China (19%), Chile (11%), Syria (22%), Japan (10%) and Jordan (24%) YoY.
A notable increase in imports is recorded from Azerbaijan (10%), Germany (8%), USA (6%) and Poland (13%) YoY as expanding markets for Ceylon Tea.
Tea exports for September 2022 totalled 21.54 M/Kgs, a decrease of 1.88 M/Kgs vis-à-vis 23.42 M/Kgs in September 2021. All categories have shown a negative variance compared to September 2021.
Cumulative exports from January-September 2022 totalled 192.60 M/Kgs, a decrease of 19.03 M/Kgs (9%) compared to 211.63 M/Kgs during the corresponding period in 2021.
