People’s Bank, under the umbrella of its CSR program Mahajana Mehewara, donated essential medical supplies to the value of over Rs. 5 million to the Castle Street Hospital for Women in Borella recently to coincide with the 61st anniversary of the People’s Bank.

Launched to give back to the community and improve the living standards of society at large, People’s Bank has launched a multitude of corporate social responsibility initiatives over its 61-year history. The impetus for donating these essential items to the Castle Street Women’s Hospital was triggered by the challenging situation in the country.
However, this is not the first time the bank has reached out to help the medical services as People’s Bank donated mobile portable Ultrasound Scanners valued at over Rs. 20 million to the National Hospitals in Colombo and Kandy and Jaffna Teaching Hospital last year to assist in the treatment of Covid patients in commemoration of its 60th anniversary.
People’s Bank and the Peoples Bank Group have also in donated high value PCR testing units to the health sector in Sri Lanka. The bank also played a pivotal role in facilitating importation of Covid-19 vaccinations to Sri Lanka. As a responsible public bank with an asset value of over three trillion rupees, People’s Bank does not stop at providing banking and financial facilities to its customers and will continue to contribute to the community through multiple CSR programs.
