Wayamba University welcomed to CFA Institute affiliation program

The Wayamba University is the latest to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Second Program from Sri Lanka.

The President of the CFA Society of Sri Lanka, Dinesh Warusavitharana said that the Society welcomes the Wayamba University for the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.

They are recognised as part of our mission to promote the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence, we have a long history of working with educational institutions around the world.

Dean, Faculty of Business Studies and Finance, Wayamba University, Prof. S.K. Gamage said that CFA Institute University Affiliation program is an essential part of our finance education at the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka and we thank CFA Institute for welcoming the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Business Finance degree as the second affiliated program in a Sri Lankan University.

Director, University Relations, Asia Pacific, CFA Institute, Florence Wong said the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Business Finance (Honors) Degree and Bachelor of Science Banking and Finance (Honors) Degree of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka have been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program.

CEO of CFA Society Sri Lanka, Aruna Alwis said that entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Wayamba University of Sri Lanka’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. 

Through participation in this program, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year and work with CFA Society Sri Lanka to support student teams in the annual Research Challenge.
