LB Finance conducted its ‘LB Pragathi Virtual Career Fair’, a three-part free webinar series recently. It was conducted live via Zoom to inform school leavers and fresh undergraduates on the new avenues of higher education and career paths available to them during and after the pandemic.
The Career Fair was held in partnership with National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).
Held over three consecutive Sundays at 11.00 am, 300 participants registered for the series via the LB Finance Facebook page to watch and listen to an illustrious panel of distinguished professors and Deans of Faculties share their thoughts and expertise on how to think about their education and career in the coming future.
On June 20, Pavithra Wickramasuriya and consultant lecturer Buddhi Tilakaratne discussed the contribution of higher education during Covid-19.
On June 27, Mangala Yapa and Professor Sanjeewa Maithripala spoke about reconsidering career paths for a sustainable future. On July 4, 2021, SLITT’s Dean Business School Professor Samantha Thelijjagoda and Miyuru Nallaperuma, concluded the series with a talk on ‘Making Quality Learning Accessible using Flexible Higher Education’.
“The ‘LB Pragathi Virtual Career Fair’ is the first Digital CSR initiative by LB Finance,” said Managing Director, LB Finance PLC, Sumith Adhihetty, adding “And judging by the positive feedback we have received, we’re proud to say that it’s been an enormous success.”
“All three sessions shall be made available for free viewing on the LB Finance Facebook and YouTube social media channels. We believe that something this valuable and educational deserves to be accessed by any Sri Lankan wishing to learn from it,” he said.
