The Sri Lanka Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) in a congratulatory message to newly elected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, said it was looking forwards to working closely with the new administration in achieving the healthcare goals of Sri Lanka.
“We confirm our readiness to work together with your newly formed Government in charting the course in a joint endeavour of addressing the healthcare concerns of this nation, where every citizen has access to quality healthcare,” the statement noted.
The pharmaceutical industry has been contributing to the healthcare needs of Sri Lanka for the past 45 years and since its inception.
About 90% of Sri Lanka’s pharmaceutical requirement is provided by the membership, which indirectly and directly employs over 250,000 people.
“We are committed to working with Government and other stakeholders towards realising our collective vision of putting patients at the centre of all what we do. To this end, our focus will be on ethical marketing practices and access to the best in healthcare, within a strong but balanced regulatory regime,” it further added.

The National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) has extended its fullest cooperation and unstinting support to the President to fulfill the objectives of his work program for the benefit of the country.
The Chamber states that it is encouraged by the emphasis made by the President that he will ensure security and law and order in the country as a basic need, since it is a vital necessity to achieve all other economic objectives that have been elaborated in the manifesto related to his work program.
The Chamber had submitted 10 major proposals to the main Presidential aspirants which had been elaborated in a document submitted to them, including President Rajapaksa.
The 10 major proposals were on the following topics: 1. National trade policy, 2. Taxation policy, 3. Shortage of skilled labour for export related activities, 4. Rationalising of the number and functions of Ministries, 5. Control of corruption, 6. Political stability, 7. Security and law and order, 8. Appointments of Heads of State institutions, 9. Tracking of implementation of the annual budget proposals, and 10. Measures to control undesirable activities of the private sector.
The message also stated that the implementation of sound, consistent, and predictable policies related to international trade, particularly exports would be vital to create a conducive business environment, and to attract foreign and local investments to accelerate economic development through exports, buttressed with a simple taxation system, which the President has rightly emphasised in his pronouncements.
The Chamber has offered to elaborate on these proposals, by meeting with the President to assist in the implementation of his work program.

As the apex body for outbound travel, The Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (TAASL) looks forward to assisting President Gotabaya Rajapaksa build a prosperous Sri Lanka, and boost tourism in the country, making it great once again.
“Given that peace and security for all people is necessary for the nation, we are delighted of the assurance given by President Rajapaksa to ensure safety for all,” TAASL President Channe Wijemanne said.
The TAASL looks forward to a period of prosperity and believes that President Rajapaksa will fulfil the duties entrusted to him, he added.

“Currently the female participation in the workforce is limited to a mere 32%. We believe your future plans will support increasing this number by helping us to provide them the resources to accept this challenge.
“A woman creates the foundation of a home, she should be able to extend her skills and competencies to the community and the nation. She has to be recognized for her capabilities without any gender bias,” she added.
