The Shippers’ Academy Colombo has designed a course with the Sri Lanka Customs to develop the skills of senior and executive staff to be knowledgeable on the process of operating the ASYCUDA World and accurate submission of information for speedy cargo clearance and on filling the forms without error.
The half-day workshop will be conducted by a senior officer of the ICT division of Sri Lanka Customs on Tuesday, May 30 from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Sri Lanka Foundation, Colombo 7. Today, the 54-caged document is electronically transmitted to the automated Customs system known as ASYCUDA World.
Although it seems straight forward the information that should be filled in the 54 cages can be a major point where mistakes can occur and as a result delays and costs are a common occurrence that is reported by the Customs.
If the tools are used properly the efficiency of companies can be increased by reducing unnecessary errors. Customs declaration is done through a process called entry framing. This is done for exports, imports and for transshipment for all cargo that is shipped through Sri Lanka. Exporters, freight forwarders, clearing agents, shipping lines, importers all should have a sound knowledge and an understanding when submitting details to the Customs through the declaration of Customs Entry.
