MIT Cargo (Pvt) Ltd. continues to gain momentum through their driven attitude towards maintaining a leading stance in their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. They aim the work towards the less fortunate in the community and promoting a greener environment and this they value as something they hold very close to the heart. Thus, understanding the impact of involving initiatives that benefit society at large is essential. For the past seven years, the town of Giribawa had experienced and cherished acts of kindness, care and concernfrom the CSR initiatives done through MIT Cargo. Many of these projects included schemes such as a unit for improving the English language, stationary items and shoes for students, computer units and a building for Training programmes for differently-abled children.
On 19th November 2016, the MIT Team opened a laboratory for the students of Gampola Maha Vidyalaya, a much needed facility that was in deprivation. Going the extra mile to assist MIT Cargo on all projects and coordination is Mr. Niroshan Fernando, the programme coordinator at World Vision Lanka.
The Environment and the pollution caused by industrial activitiesis another area for concern. Considering the number of containers, volume (kgs) movement and with the assistance of the Central Environmental Authority a formula was derived to consider the number of plants that’s needed to be given back to the environmentannually.
