Thai company acquires Holcim Lanka

Holcim (Lanka) Limited was acquired by Thailand–based ready-mixed concrete manufacturing company, Siam City Concrete Company Limited, a subsidiary of Siam City Cement Public Company Limited on December 1, the company said in a press release.

The Holcim range of products in future will be marketed under the brand name ‘INSEE cement’. The company will maintain its 30-year heritage by continuing to market ‘Sanstha’ and ‘Mahaweli Marine’ cement for home builders. The newly acquired company will also introduce the INSEE range to cater to the needs of large infrastructure projects.

INSEE is a leading cement manufacturer in Southeast Asia and was founded in 1969 in Thailand. The Company manufactures INSEE branded cement, construction aggregates and solutions which are marketed in Cambodia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, in addition to Thailand where it is a market leader. Health and safety has always been a priority at INSEE and the acquisition has brought this important criteria to Sri Lanka. The Company markets INSEE Extra Cement as well as Sanstha cement, both emission controlled green cements, contributing to minimize up to seven kilos of carbon dioxide gas per bag of cement.
