
Yasas Vishuddhi Abeywickrama was elected as the President of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) for 2017 at its Annual General Meeting recently. A new Executive Council was also elected.
Abeywickrama, a known industry activist has been a member of the CSSL Executive Council for five years. He also has held leadership roles with the Australian Computer Society (ACS), and is one of the first Sri Lankans to be elected to the largest international federation in the IT industry – International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
The new council:
President - Yasas Vishuddhi Abeywickrama, Vice President - W K Prabath Samindra, Secretary - Damith Hettihewa, Treasurer - Dr. Ajantha Athukorala, Asst. Secretary - Dr. Malitha Wijesundara, Asst. Treasurer - Parakum Amaranga Pathirana, Student Counselor - Dr. T. A. Samantha Thelijjagoda, Publication Secretary - Enosh Praveen, Members - Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, Heshan Karunaratne, Buddhika Senasekara and Sajith Sameera.
Abeywickrama thanked outgoing President Dr Dayan Rajapakse for guiding the Society strategically to a new level.
He presented his vision under five broad thrust areas: Engaging and Representative, Active, Thought Leader and Knowledge Platform, Recognition and Vocal, Present and Communication.
The new council will focus strategically on these five areas through various events, activities, projects and initiatives.
