Spa Ceylon Luxury Ayurveda, the global wellness lifestyle brand, last week opened a 3,000 square foot signature store and Ceylon Lounge in Japan’s Ginza shopping district, considered to be one of the most exclusive shopping precincts in the world.
With this opening, Spa Ceylon is now the world’s largest Luxury Ayurveda chain with 45 locations across 12 countries, a company spokesman said.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan, Prof. D. Ganganath Dissanayake and a high profile guest list including top Japanese and Sri Lankan corporates and international media were also present.
Director and Co-founder of Spa Ceylon, Shalin Balasuriya said, “We see a lot of potential for the Spa Ceylon brand in Japan. Even though this is a mature market with many international players and strong domestic brands as well, we feel that the proven, high performance formulae with natural ingredients, luxury presentation of Ayurveda and branding elements from Ceylon will set us apart and will be key to the success of the brand in Japan.”
This is its second location in Japan following the opening of its boutique in Nihonbashi, Tokyo in October. Further expansion in Japan is planned with the addition of up to 12 new outlets within the next 12 months.
Internationally, Spa Ceylon recently launched two Duty Free stores in Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA1 and KLIA2 in October and a second 4,000 square feet Spa and Boutique in the historic Galle Fort in Sri Lanka last week.
New openings are scheduled for next month with Airport Duty Free locations in Mumbai, India and Male, the Maldives; downtown locations in Colombo and Karachi, Pakistan; and the first store down-under at the popular Melbourne Central Mall in Australia.
Co-founder and Managing Director Shiwantha Dias said, “We will reach our target of 50 stores internationally by the end of 2016, and have plans to open 30 new locations in 2017, en-route to the big milestone of 100 stores across three continents by early 2018.”
“Spa Ceylon will enter several new markets next year. The second quarter will commence our European roll-out with store openings in Italy and Austria featuring close to 300 of our EU compliant formulations. Mainland China is another high potential market with boutique operations planned to commence in the third quarter,” he said.
Recently, Spa Ceylon expanded their product offering to include several new natural collections of aromatic luxury soaps, organic virgin coconut face and body care.
