
Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) company, and the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure launched Seeds For the Future Program at the Prime Minister’s office last week.
Huawei launched the Seeds For the Future program, its global Corporate Social Responsibility program, to nurture Sri Lanka ICT talent and facilitate ICT knowledge transfer to support Sri Lanka to become a digitally empowered nation. As a first step, Huawei sponsored 10 Sri Lankan university students’ study trip to China.
The students from eight universities across the country were selected by the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure and Huawei, based on the program criterion.Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Sri Lanka, Shunli Wang said, “We are committed to long time contribution in Sri Lanka such as cultivating local talents.
The Seeds For the Future program will broadly assist Sri Lanka, local communities, universities and students, and Sri Lanka ICT industry.” Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure, Harin Fernando acknowledged Huawei’s contributions on bridging the digital divide and cultivating ICT talents in Sri Lanka. Students in the program can enhance their abilities to adapt to the ICT industry as they learn more about state-of-the-art technologies and skills, as well as the innovation needs of Sri Lanka market.
