‘Flame’ awards to encourage entrepreneurs

The ‘Flame Entrepreneur Awards Western Province 2016’ organised by the Western Province Provincial Council (WPPC) will be held on October 22 at the Galle Face Hotel Colombo under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Awards will focus on building a seed pipeline of future entrepreneurs that will promote a culture of calculated risks, productivity and efficiency and lead to long term economic progress.

The guest of honour at Awards ceremony will be Dr. Young Hoon Paik, a prominent expert in the international business arena and in the Korean economy. His know-how in developing Small and Medium Entrepreneurs would be a definite factor in developing the grassroots level entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka, the organizers said in a press release.

Chief Minister of the WPPC, Isura Devapriya said, “In line with the new economic goals, we hope to encourage entrepreneurship among our youth and assist them become an integral part of the country’s prosperity and innovation.”

“The motive behind Flame awards is to set the stage for mid segment entrepreneurs to build and become a part of a mega event by showcasing their strengths and capabilities in the business arena,” he said. The concept ‘Flame’ was developed with a holistic view to uphold and encourage mid segment entrepreneurs who will be the backbone of Sri Lanka’s future progress.
