Principal of Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Subhashini Dematagoda said, "Education alone is insufficient to enhance the total personality of the younger generation. Involving in sports and games facilitates the students to develop their moral behaviour. Colours Nite is an annual celebration of the school to felicitate the vibrant talents of the outstanding students in the field of sports both at national and international levels."

The chief guest, Deshabandu Damayanthi Darsha said that sports and games play a pivotal role in shaping the personality of an individual."It helps to maintain a vigorous and healthy physique and a balanced mind.

Currently the student generation has become more interested only in getting through examinations and they keep away from sports, without knowing the impact of sports in building up a well disciplined citizen. I appeal to all students to be involved in at least one kind of sport to be a well balanced person with courage and confidence."

Many students received school colours for participating in different kind of sports such as chess, hockey, badminton, karate, cricket, swimming, netball, gymnastic, handball and shooting. H. Navodhi Thathsarani Fernando performed karate in an explosive manner which thrilled the audience. She was vigorous and confident and she got the colours in karate for her performance.
