State Children's Art Festival 2017 was held on October 1st at the Nelum Pokuna, organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Out of 100,000 paintings, awards were presented to 115 paintings drawn by children. Chief Guest Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs S.B. Nawinne presented the awards to the winners. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Palitha Thewarapperuma and Western Province Social Services Directress Anusha Gokula Fernando were present.
