In Sri Lanka, Children’s Day is celebrated on October 1 every year.
This day is very important in the life of a child, as it reminds elders about their duties towards children. This is the time when a child needs the greatest care of parents, teachers and all those who are connected with his or her life.
A child is a lovely creation of God. Look at a child and a smile comes to your face. Children have different talents. Children need encouragement both at home and at school. The school is a second home for a child. English romantic poetry has rightly stated, “The child is a father of a man.”
In most schools, they celebrate Children’s Day with many fun activities and other programs. Children also participate in various games and sports.
Children are one of the most valuable assets of a country. The future lies in their hands. Let us hope and pray that government leaders, parents and teachers will give children great love and care to achive their ambitions. This is the wish that every child has in his or her heart.
