Sigiriya is a place of historical importance in Sri Lanka. It is a rock fortress bult by King Kashyapa. Sigirira is packed with architectural and cultural features of that era. The Lion’s Gate which stands at the entrance to the citadel brings to mind bravery and pride. 
The moats and spouts have been created with advanced techonology but without the support of any machinery.
They are marvellous.The staircase, the Mirror Wall and the wall paintings of the damsels wearing jewellery undeniably reveal the skill of our fore fathers.
Sigiriya has been declared as a World heritage site due to its cultural and technological value. It stands out as a tourist destination because of its ancient grandeur.
