The majestic jaguar

13 February, 2022

The jaguar is the largest cat in America and the third largest in the world.

This big cat lives and thrives in the Amazon forests. Jaguars are known as an endangered species because humans hunt jaguars for their fur coats. The jaguar has black spots and a brownish fur coat which blends into the surroundings very quickly.

This coat is mostly used when ambushing prey. The coat blends with the surroundings so the jaguar can get close to catch prey.

This big cat is a carnivore and that means it only eats meat.

Among its food sources are the caiman, capybara, wild boar and fish. This cat is more unique than other cats as this cat likes to swim in strong currents.

Its huge skull, strong bite force, massive paws and cleverness makes it a top predator in its environment.

Scientists estimate that jaguars have the strongest bite force of all the cats, about 1,500 PSI.

Jaguars come in two colour combinations. One is brown and black and the other is black.

The Jaguar population is decreasing because of deforestation and habitat loss.

Everybody must work together and stop deforestation and help to bring back the population of jaguars.
