New kind of early human
A new kind of early human has been found by scientists who studied pieces of fossilised bones dug up at a cement plant in central Israel.
The fragments of a skull and a lower jaw with teeth about 130,000 years old could force a rethink of parts of the human family tree, according to researchers from the University of Tel Aviv and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Scientists and researchers say that the ancient human named Homo Nesher Ramla (Nesher Ramla Homo) after the place in South-East Tel Aviv where it was found could have lived alongside our species Homo sapiens for more than 10,000 years.
