
The melodious voice of Radini Fernando enabled her to renew her record by winning the Island Best title for the seventh successive year. Radini, a Grade Eight student of Bishop's College, Colombo took part in the Sri Lanka Festival of Music, Dance and Speech in three categories - Musical English Solo, Songs in other Languages and Piano Solo. She emerged the Island's Best in all three events. The competition was conducted by the Sri Lanka Association of Music, Dance and Drama, affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals of Music. Radini was trained and nominated for the competition by Dr. Priyeshni Perera, Director of Prestantia Music School, Moratuwa.
