Second Prize : Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

16 September, 2018

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory written by the famous British author Roald Dahl was first published in the United Kingdom by George Allen & Unwin in 1964. It is illustrated by Quentin Blake. The story is about an eleven-year-old boy named Charlie Bucket who lives in poverty in a tiny house with his parents and grandparents. This poor boy Charlie gets the chance to explore inside the marvellous chocolate factory owned by Mr. Willy Wonka. Together with Charlie four other lucky kids get the chance to explore the chocolate factory. Greedy Augustus Gloop, spoiled Veruca Salt, chewing gum addicted Violet Beauregarde and television addicted Mike Teavee are the other four kids. All four kids except Charlie get into trouble in different ways inside the factory.

I myself am a chocolate lover and a believer in magic. This book is filled with magic, and that is why I like this book. By the way what happened to Charlie in the end? Read the book to find out.
