William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor. He is England’s national poet. He was born on 23rd April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon in England. He married Anne Hathaway.

Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. His greatest plays include Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, King Lear and Romeo and Juliet. He also acted in many of his plays. Shakespeare was acquainted with Queen Elizabeth I. He has been credited by the Oxford English Dictionary for introducing almost 3,000 new words to the English language.

William Shakespeare passed away in 1616. He is one of history’s most famous playwrights. He is also considered as the world’s greatest dramatist.
