Electricity in Sri Lanka

28 August, 2022

Electricity is the main energy source in Sri Lanka. It helps the development in our country. It is produced as hydro electricity in Sri Lanka with the help of rivers flowing from mountains to the sea. There are dams built across the rivers and when the stored water falls from a height on dynamos electricity is generated. They are stored in power stations.

Day by day, the demand for electricity is getting grater with the advancement of technology. Electricity is directly connected to the environment. Because, to generate electricity, rivers should have enough water. Rivers have enough water only when there are trees, and the environment is protected.

Therefore, to have enough electricity in the country we need to protect our environment.
