Knox Ceylon Institute holds Astronomy Awards Day

Knox Ceylon Astronomy Institute hosted their Inaugural Awards Day on the May 4, 2022. The entire event was a virtual one due to the current situation in the country.

The awards were given out to the English Medium students in the astronomy camp Batch 01 and 02 along with the students from the Sinhala medium.

Present at the event was Dr. Julian Onions; astrophysicist from the University of Nottingham.

Dr He delivered a speech on the importance of learning astronomy and the significance of having such classes in Sri Lanka.

Wendy Perera , Director of Knox Ceylon Institute was also present at the event.

Hibraheem Sabir – astronomy coach of the Institute was the host for the evening. Every student received a certificate of participation for their effort and time.

The best performer award for Batch 01 (English medium) was awarded to Master Imalka Udakara and Master Suditha Dinujaya. The best performer award for Batch 02 (English medium) was awarded to Master Rageeth Haththasinghe and Master Adheesha Herath. The best performers in Sinhala medium are Master Chelaka Ranumitha and Master Akesh Tarinda.

It was a melodious evening as some of the students showcased their talents by singing, dancing, playing various instruments while some delivered speech.
