Long ago, there lived a wood carver named Geppetto. One day, he took a block of wood and carved a boy puppet out of it.
No sooner had Geppeto finished carving , the puppet began to talk and walk. An amazed Geppetto said, “You can walk and talk like a real little boy”.
He named the puppet Pinocchio.
Geppetto had always wanted a boy of his own. He said to Pinocchio “ I wish you were a real little boy”.
Geppetto told Pinocchio that he must go to school. Pinocchio hated the idea of school. He was naughty too.
Instead of going to school, Pinocchio ran away to the wood.
A fairy
In the wood, Pinocchio met a fairy. She said, “Geppetto told you to go to school. “Why aren’t you in school”?
Naughty Pinocchio told a lie. He said he had gone to school.
As he told the lie his nose grew longer and longer.
The fairy was angry with Pinocchio. ‘You naughty little puppet” she said. Each time you lie, your nose will get longer and longer”.
This made Pinocchio cry and the fairy felt sorry for the naughty, little puppet. So, she used her magic and shrank Pinocchio’s nose to its normal size. Pinocchio was relieved and happy.
Pinocchio said, “ I want to be good”. He also asked the fairy, “ Can you make me into a real little boy’?
The fairy said, “Yes, I can. But you must promise to be good. You must listen to Geppetto, go to school and never tell lies.”
“Oh, I will do all those things” Pinocchio promised the fairy. “Please make me into a real little boy”.
A real little boy
The fairy turned Pinochchio into a ral little boy and off he went.
Pinocchio ran all the way home to show Geppetto that he was now a real little boy but to his disappointment and fright the house was shut and Geppetto was not there. He had gone to search for naughty, little Pinocchio.
Determined to find Geppetto and show him that now he was the real little boy he wanted Pinochchio set off to find Geppetto. He also wanted to say sorry to Geppetto for his naughtiness.
Though Pinocchio searched high and low for days Geppetto could not be found.
