Once upon a time, a boy and his grandfather lived in a cottage next to a beautiful meadow. Next to the meadow was a thick and dark forest which was home to a hungry wolf.
Grandfather’s advice
“You must always stay in the garden” said, Peter’s Grandfather. Never go into the meadow by yourself”.
“Why ever not?” asked Peter.
“ Because the hungry wolf in the dark forest can creep up and eat you,” said Grandfather.
Peter looked over the garden wall. The meadow looked absolutely beautiful in the sunlight.
A little red bird
Just then, a little red bird flew into the meadow and perched on the branch of a big tree. Seeing Peter, it called out “ Peter, why don’t you come to the meadow and play” ?
Peter climbed over the wall and went to the meadow which had a pond in the middle. A duck waddled its way to the pond passing Peter. When it reached the pond it jumped in and swam away to the other side.
The little red bird flew down to the duck and spoke to it.
“What a funny walk you have, why don’t you fly like me”? “I don’t want tp fly like you” said the duck.” Why don’t you swim too “? The two birds were very cross with each other. They made a lot of noise and did not notice a cat creeping up to them.
But Peter did.
“Look out” Peter shouted to the cat and the duck. “The cat will get you”.
At once. the little red bird flew to the top of a tall tree and the duck swam to the middle of the pond. Peter’s Grandfather came into the garden and looked over the wall. When he saw Peter in the meadow he became very cross with Peter.
“Come back at once, Peter” shouted Grandfather. Peter climbed over the wall and came back to the garden of the cottage where his Grandfather was. All of a sudden, the wolf came creeping out of the woods.
