Once upon a time, there was a man who had three lovely daughters. The youngest of them was called Beauty and she was good, kind and generous.
One day, Beauty’s father had to go on a journey. Before he left, he asked his three daughters what they wanted him to bring back for them. The eldest daughter wanted him to bring her a necklace and the second daughter wanted a ring.
A rose
When the father asked Beauty what she wanted she said to bring her a rose.
The man finished his work and started on his return journey. He had got the necklace and the ring for his two elder daughters but he had not got a rose for Beauty yet.
He saw a castle with plenty of rose bushes and he said to himself, “Ah, now I can get a rose for Beauty”.
As he tried to pluck a rose a gruff voice said,” Don’t pluck the rose”.
The beast
The man turned and there was a strange, fierce looking Beast standing next to him.
“Please don’t hurt me” begged the man from the Beast.
“ No, I won’t hurt you,” said the Beast. ‘But, you must bring me the first thing you see”. The man agreed and went on his way.
When he got home Beauty came running out to meet him. So, she was the first thing he saw. The father sadly told Beauty about the Beast’s request.
Kind and generous girl
Beauty being the kind and generous girl she was, said, “ It’s alright father. I will go to the Beast’s castle”.
With a heavy heart the father took Beauty to the castle and left her with the Beast.
The Beast treated Beauty well and she too liked the Beast and was kind to him.
One day, the Beast asked Beauty to marry him but she refused saying “I like you but I can’t marry you”.
After spending some time at the castle Beauty went to stay with her father. When she returned to the castle the Beast was very ill.
Handsome prince
A very sad Beauty begged the Beast to get well.
“ Dear Beast, don’t be ill. I love you”, Beauty said to the Beast.
As soon as Beauty said “I love you” the Beast changed into a handsome prince. The prince had been changed into a beast by a wicked spell. When Beauty declared that she loved him she had broken the evil spell.
The prince asked Beauty to marry him and they lived happily ever after.
