Cheating – a disgusting habit

31 October, 2021

Dear Children,

Today, let’s look at the most unpleasant and disgusting trait in people – cheating. This unpleasant habit is there not only among adults but it is very much there among children as well.

Lying is perhaps the most common way of cheating. One of the main reasons for lying is to escape punishment. But, this is bad because lying you are deceiving may be, your parents, teachers, other elders, siblings and friends. The correct thing to do is always tell the truth and accept your punishment. Believe me, you will feel much better after the initial unpleasantness.

Another way of cheating is to copy at exams and in class. We hear of many incidents of cheating at public exams and what good does it do to those candidates who cheat? They do not gain anything except getting disqualified from the exam.

Also remember that if the person you are copying from has got it wrong you too will get it wrong. Then, you will be in trouble.

Getting homework, creative work or projects done by others and passing it off as your own handwork is another way of cheating.

Taking banned substances to enhance performance is another major form of cheating among sports men and sports women.

This can affect your health very seriously in the long run and also if caught you will face disqualification and the loss of awards.

Always remember, cheating does not pay. Always be honest and open then you will have a clear conscience.

Dear children, after today, I will not be writing to you for a while. Instead of my column there will be fun things for you to do.

So, good luck till we meet again

Aunty Nira
