Nimesh Perera - The Winner of 1996

Nimesh Perera was one of the finest cricketers to come out of St. Sebastian’s College in Moratuwa who went on to -play for teams like Basnahira South, Chilaw Marians, Colombo Cricket Club and the Sebastianites with distinction.

With his leg spin bowling he captured a hundred wickets in a school season and even came close to matching the feat of Muttiah Muralidaran. He was also a very useful batsman who became the Observer Schoolboy Cricketer in 1996 the year in which Sri Lanka won the World Cup.

Nimesh played in over 140 domestic matches and to match his bowling he aggregated over 5000 runs with a best 152.
