Eating a nutritious diet is a good habit. We get the necessary nutrients from what we eat and drink. The main nutrients are carbohydrates, fat, proteins, minerals and vitamins. Apart from this we should eat fibrous food and drink plenty of water. We must eat a balanced diet. The required amount of nutrients may vary according to the various activities we do.
Carbohydrates and fats supply energy for different functions in our body. Minerals and vitamins protect us from diseases. Various health problems occur due to the insufficient intake of nutrients. The lack of iron results in anaemia. Lack of protein causes weak growth. Excess sugar makes our bodies over-weight, destroys our health and causes diabetes.
Excess fat and oil lead to heart diseases.
When we prepare our daily meals we should be concerned about the quality, variety, freshness and quantity of the food. Let’s eat healthy food.
