A ship, the Eurosun, carrying a cargo of cement from Abu Dhabi in the UAE to the port of Trincomalee hit a rock and ran aground at Little Basses Kuda Ravana off the Southeastern Sri Lankan coast. A distress call from the ship was received by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC). The Sri Lankan Navy conducted a rescue operation.
