A visit to a historical place

31 January, 2021

During the past school vacation, we visited Sigiriya by our van. We enjoyed very much. We had our breakfast at a hotel and then we started our journey. We arrived at Sigiriya at 12.30 p.m. Then we started climbing the rock and reached the top of the rock at 3.30 p.m.

We saw the lion gate, mirror wall, landscaped gardens and water gardens from the gate to the top of the rock. My father said that this rock fortress was built by King Kashyapa and he decorated the walls with frescoes. After seeing all these sights, we started coming down.

We had our lunch on a bench. My father said, it is our duty to protect this historical monument for our future generation. Then we came back to the car park and left Sigiriya. Then we visited the Dambulla Vihara and went back home. We reached home at 7.30 p.m.
