Best Scary Movies to Watch by Zodiac sign: These frightening films will help you get through Mercury retrograde

1 November, 2020

What does it mean by Mercury retrograde? Have you ever wondered what it really means? Three or four times a year, the planet Mercury is said to go retrograde and that is to say it moves in an opposite direction to planet Earth. Planets move from east to west around the sun and when Mercury turns to move from west to east instead, that’s when Mercury is in retrograde.

This Halloween, we are experiencing intense Mercury retrograde and a rare blue full moon. The energy between the spiritual and physical world will be blended together, creating a thrilling and chilling vibe. Mercury’s backward journey, which commenced on October 13th and lasts until November 3rd in the spooky sign of Scorpio, will scare us all.

Old ghosts from our past will come back to daunt and taunt us, just when we have moved on. Instead of obsessing over your frightful ex, check out these scary movies from the past that’ll prove to be more hair-raising than dealing with your former love.

Aries | Blade

As the crusader of the Zodiac, you will fight the good fight against evil until you win and never change your values in your quest. This is all the more reason why you’ll enjoy watching Blade. Add an underworld rivalry between two sets of vampires, plus a vampire hunter, and this flick will be the most enticing thing you’ve ever seen on screen.

Taurus | Dumplings

Ruled by the planet Venus, you love a good meal and savour your beauty. You’ll do anything to ensure that your belly stays full and your glow is fresh. Anything? Well, almost. You probably won’t go to the lengths of the characters in this film. But, you’ll understand the motivation of Mrs. Li and even empathise with her. Nothing stands in the way of a Taurus and their beauty routine — even if it’s deadly.

Gemini | Halloween

In typical Gemini fashion, the protagonist of the film, Michael Myers has two sides to him. One is a lost child who needs attention and the other (AKA his mask) is a crazed killer out to seek vengeance on his hometown. You’ll identify with the dualistic undertone of Michael Myers, as well as his quiet nature during this Mercury retrograde (being that you’re in the mood to keep a low profile during this planetary backspin).

Cancer | Jaws

You find solace hanging out by the beach and have no qualms about it. Being the crustacean that you are, the ocean is the only place where you can find peace and reflect — unless it has become less than placid due to a psychotic killer shark who’s on the loose. TBH, that would totally ruin your pleasant memories from spring break— as well as terrifying you the next time you’re at a beach.

Leo | Vampire in Brooklyn

You always want to come in first place when it comes to your generous and loving heart. In fact, you would still find time to romance and sweet talk your crush, even if you were an old vampire. There’s nothing deadlier than a dagger to the heart (literally and metaphorically) or being rejected by your boo for another. Ouch! No, you’re not being read for filth. All of this legit happens in this flick.

Virgo | Beloved

Beloved is a period film that will make you think deeply about the past and feel with all your heart. Not only that, but you’ll want to talk about it with all of your friends right after you watch it. This motion picture is literally the Great American Horror Story. Based on the infamous Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Toni Morrison, this intense psychologically thrilling tale will send chills, tingles, and shivers down your spine.

Libra | Candyman

The OG premise of Candyman from 1992 is actually a sad tale of a romantic tryst gone wrong. And, while you’re not out there seeking revenge on those who caused you to have heartache, you can totally vibe with the sentiment of wanting to get some sort of retribution for love gone wrong. You’ll identify with this movie in an emotional and intellectual way, minus the gory visuals and details, unlike any other scary movie.

Scorpio | Bram Stoker’s Dracula

Time to face facts: You can be a tad possessive and obsessive when it comes to love. We totally adore that about you. Watching Bram Stoker’s Dracula will make you feel on a level like no other, as your desirous heart wants to be reciprocated with passion by the person they admire most. Basically, this plot is like your love life — but, without the bloodsucking vampires. As you know, true love never dies.

Sagittarius | I Know What You Did Last Summer

Here’s the tea: You’re a know it all, who has no shame in proclaiming their knowledge of everything under the sun — even if it’s detailing a count of a cover up amongst friends. Plus, you always think you’re right ... even if you’re wrong. The title and premise of this flick totally resonates with your inner vibe, when you are in the mood to taunt others for their wrongdoings (which will bring you a lot of pleasure). Follow this up with I Still Know What You Did Last Summer for Brandy’s beloved addition to the cast.

Capricorn | The Shining

Imagine you got a sweet gig overseeing a hotel during its offseason. It pays well and gives you a ton of time to focus on your true calling as a writer. Sounds pretty awesome. Now, imagine if you found out that the place of your employment was haunted and that you became possessed by an evil spirit that lives there ... well, as the hardworking sea-goat you are, that’s your biggest fear in the world.

Aquarius | Scream

You worship your friends. And, will defend them endlessly. That is, unless one of them was Ghostface (which would obviously s call for some major ghosting ... no pun intended).

Regardless, you will find it fun solving this “who’s done it” in the crew murder mystery where everyone is a suspect — even YOU! Your logical sensibilities will help you and your squad (who’ll watch this over Zoom with you) expose the killer without a hitch.

Pisces | A Nightmare on Elm Street

You live in a beautiful daydream, which makes you a sensitive soul. However, if the bubble that you’ve built around yourself suddenly became horrifying you wouldn’t know what to do — especially if Freddy Krueger made an appearance.

Nightmare on Elm Street brings your biggest fears to life (or on the screen), which is being trapped in a never-ending dream with no way out, except having to be awake and present in reality. Boring!
