English is an international language. It is a link language and a commercial language.
In Sri Lanka, English is the second language. But it is a very helpful language for our higher education. Most of the books, magazines, research in medicine, science and modern technology are published in English. It is very important when you are using computers. If we don’t have a good knowledge of English, we cannot use modern technology. Therefore, English is the door to higher education.
On the other hand, a good knowledge of English is an additional qualification to apply for a job. In Sri Lanka, private sector employees must be fluent in English.
Nowadays, we cannot do anything without a knowledge of English. The English language is the key to success in our higher education. Let’s learn English without being bored and make our higher education a success.
