Seethawaka wet zone botanical garden

The Seethawaka wet zone botanical garden is in the Colombo district. It is close to Avissawella. We have to turn right from the Puwakpitiya station and continue till we reach the garden. Seethawaka botanical garden is on the Puwakpitiya-Thummodara main road at Illukowita.

Construction work on the garden commenced in 2008. It was opened to the public in October 2014. The Seethawaka Botanical Garden conserves the threatened wet zone and endemic plants for future generations.

The extent of this garden is 105 acres. It is a calm and quiet environment with beautiful natural surroundings. It has a cool climate. There are beautiful streams flowing through the garden. We can go on boat rides. There are various species of plants with economic, aesthetic and ecological value. We can see many kumbuk trees. These are grown along the pathways and directs you to the summit of the park. It is open from 8.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. The Seethawaka botanical garden is an ideal place for a wonderful day out.
