Good Work, Secret Seven by Enid Blyton begins with the Secret Seven having a meeting. The Secret Seven consists of the children named Janet, Pam, Barbara, Peter, Colin, George and Jack.
They meet in a shed at the bottom of Peter and Janet’s garden. Janet and Peter live on a beautiful farm in the English countryside and their friends live in the village nearby.
They have many adventures together and assist the police to find criminals and gangs.
This adventure takes place in Winter prior to Guy Fawkes Day. Peter and Janet go to tea with Mrs. Penton and are picked up by their father who drives to the station to collect a parcel on their way home.
When their father gets down at the station, two car thieves get in and drive away not knowing that Janet and Peter are in the back seat.
Peter and Janet hide at the bottom of the seat and listen carefully to the conversation between the two thieves which provides them with vital clues that help to track down the criminals.
Peter and Janet call a meeting of the secret seven to go over the clues and decide on the best course of action. At first, their attempts to track down the criminals are unsuccessful but they remain undeterred by the setbacks. Peter disguises himself as a Guy to find the two criminals and his efforts are productive because he identifies the criminals and guess their next move and inform the police. The children have an exciting adventure and celebrate by having a party on Bonfire Night.
