SLPA Annual Concert

The annual concert of the SLPA (Sri Lanka Port Authority) Day Care Center was held under the patronage of Roads and Highways, Ports and Shipping Minister Johnston Fernando recently.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Johnston Fernando stated that the Day Care Center was initiated in 1985, under the leadership of former Minister late Lalith Athulathmudali. Minister Athulathmudali revived the Sri Lankan Port sector. Also during the period of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, further improvement was achieved, the Minister added.

He said that caring for children of Port employees is a commendable service. A stress free mentality of the workers is a crucial factor. This year, only 28 children had taken the Membership of the Day Care Centre representing 8,000 workers of the SLPA. Under the expansion program to be implemented, this Day Care Centre will be enhanced to ensure a stress free work environment for Port employees.

During his visit, Minister Fernando inspected the Day Care Centre and facilities provided to children. He instructed officials to standardise meals given to children, including fresh vegetables and fruits.

Principal teacher of the Day Care Centre Linet Perera and a group of parents were present on the occasion.
