Quack! Quack! Bread! Bread! Children's book

29 September, 2019

A favourite pastime of visiting and feeding the ducks at the local river has resulted in writing and publishing Quack! Quack! Bread! Bread!, a children's book that discusses artificial feeding and its impact on sustainability and wildlife.

Written by Nilusha Fave, an Australian citizen with a Sri Lankan heritage, the book explores healthy food options for ducks in a child friendly way. The book is suitable for early years and primary aged children. It looks at the impacts artificial feeding has on the environment, how it interferes with nature and wildlife and highlights the importance of living in harmony with nature.

When Nilusha read the draft to her two boys, Rehan (6) and Danush (3), Rehan asked if he could "Draw the pictures for the story."

When the illustrations were completed, the draft version was well received by peers, teachers and friends.

The book is Nilusha and Rehan's first publication as Australian authors, although Nilusha has had a number of publications in Sri Lanka.
